Hanna Whyte, LMT
In 2019 Hanna opened her own massage practice, Good Space Massage. Inspired by Yoga Sutra 2.46 sthira sukham asanam which translates to “the seat or asana should be steady, comfortable, and joyful” or her favorite interpretation “to resolutely abide in good space”. Hanna integrates modalities based on her wide range of experience and education. In one session you can expect to receive a blend of myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, stretching, energetic touch, and cupping, based on your body's individual needs that day. Through massage sessions and yoga classes, Hanna is committed to working with you to explore your daily movement patterns and how they get held in the body in order to restore and maintain good space in body and mind.
Hanna is a massage therapist and yoga instructor originally from St. Louis, MO. She has spent the last decade away studying yoga, fitness, dance, functional movement, massage therapy, Asian bodywork, and natural medicine. Hanna earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance and Arts Management from Columbia College Chicago which supported her lifelong love of movement, her fascination with the human body, and her desire for authentic connection. She earned her 200-hour yoga teaching certification in 2014 and since has taught 4,000+ hours of yoga classes, facilitated over a dozen yoga teacher trainings, and helped open and manage two yoga studios in the Chicago area. New Service: Infant Massage
Infant massage is an opportunity for you, the caregiver (mother, father, grandparent, nanny, etc.), to offer your baby a soothing experience to help with their developing bodies. It fosters deep bonding between you and your baby and has positive effects for the caregiver including reduced stress, increased confidence, ability to read cues, and a greater connection to your baby. Specific techniques taught in the Loving Touch method can help support the baby in relaxation, stimulation, relief with digestion/elimination/gas, bonding and attachment, communication, growth and growing pains, circulation, and much more.
Infant massage lessons are taught by a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI), demonstrating the strokes on a doll while you give the massage to your infant (if present) or on a doll for practice. Lessons can be given while pregnant to encourage bonding prenatally and to be prepared to begin gentle massage right after birth. It is never too late to begin massaging your child! Partners, other caregivers in your baby’s life, and older siblings are welcome to attend these lessons.
Organic unscented natural fruit oil (coconut, avocado, etc.) is used to perform the massage on the baby’s legs & feet, tummy, chest, arms & hands, face, and back. A small bottle of massage oil as well as an instructional booklet will be provided. Techniques include rubbing, rolling, kneading, tapping, and pressing at a moderate pressure.
